Strengthening anti-poverty tax credits in 2025
Anti-poverty tax credits help Vermont families with the fewest resources fill the gap between income and expenses by providing cash when they file their taxes. They help people pay for groceries, energy bills, car repairs, and school supplies.
But they could be doing more. Every day, families feel the strain of rising prices and low wages. Increasing Vermont’s anti-poverty tax credits and expanding access to them helps our families and communities.
Together we can:
Increase the value of refundable anti-poverty tax credits
Extend the credits to those currently left out. This includes people with disabilities, young adults, individuals who do not have children, and older people.
Make anti-poverty tax credits easy to access.
